Application of Capacitive Deionization to Sewage
- Created on Monday, 21 November 2011 17:45
The purpose of the project is to develop a capacitive deionization technology to be applied to the regeneration of urban and industrial sewage, fresh and brackish waters, to eliminate efficiently dissolved nutrients, especially ionic species which contain nitrogen and phosphorus as well as sulphates, Boron, Lithium and Arsenic. Capacitive deionization is an elimination process of ions, dissolved by electro-adsorption on electrodes with an electric charge of opposite sign of the ions’. Capacitive deionization comes up as a technologic alternative to reverse osmosis since it is a low pressure process and it does not require the use of membranes.
