Application of the Bio-Electrolysis Catalytic technology to urban Sewage treatment


The fundamental purpose of the project is to develop a pilot-scale reactor of bio-catalytic electrolysis to be used in urban sewage treatment. This prototype must satisfy a dual function; on one hand, to eliminate a significant amount of organic soluble matter contained in the sewage treated by the means of a catalytic action from a certain type of bacteria. On the other hand, to transform the energetic contents of this organic matter in hydrogen, a fuel of high interest given the new energetic trends in which hydrogen plays an important role as an energetic vector of the future.
